About Central Bank of Iran

The Central Bank of the Islamic Republic of Iran publishes a daily table of exchange reference rates for the rial — 47 currencies in rials per unit, seven days a week, with the archive on the same page back to the March 2002 unification. The series carries Iran's exchange-rate history as the bank itself printed it: the 42,000-rial preferential rate from 2018 to late 2024, then a reference rate that tracks the market, which reached 1.8 million rials per dollar in October 2026. This is the bank's own table — not the open-market or exchange-house rate — and it is the rate Iranian customs, tax and accounting rules cite.

One request for the pair you need — USD to IRR at the official Central Bank of Iran rate:

curl "https://allratestoday.com/api/v1/central-bank/cbir/latest?source=USD&target=IRR" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer art_live_your_key"

What comes back — a real response built from the table in force (2026-10-26):

{
  "bank": "cbir",
  "name": "Central Bank of Iran",
  "rate_date": "2026-10-26",
  "source": "USD",

Or the bank's full published table:

curl "https://allratestoday.com/api/v1/central-bank/cbir/latest" \

The full-table response has the same envelope with every published row (first rows shown):

Node.js / TypeScript client

A dedicated zero-dependency npm package wraps these endpoints — central-bank-of-iran-exchange-rate:

npm install central-bank-of-iran-exchange-rate
import { getRate } from 'central-bank-of-iran-exchange-rate';

const pair = await getRate('USD', 'IRR', { apiKey: 'art_live_...' });
console.log(pair.rate, pair.rate_date);

Zero dependencies, TypeScript types included, and it runs anywhere fetch exists — Node 18+, Bun, Deno, and edge runtimes.

Why use the official Central Bank of Iran rate?

A market rate is a moving target; the rate Central Bank of Iran publishes is a fixed, citable figure that stays put once printed — which is why invoicing, customs, audit evidence, and statutory accounting in Iran lean on it rather than on a live feed. Every response from this API carries the bank's own rate_date, and on days with no publication you get the most recent published table — the one compliance rules tell you to apply.

Pairs the bank doesn't print directly are resolved from its table (inverse or cross via IRR) and explicitly flagged "derived": true — so what the bank printed and what was computed are never confused.

Endpoints

Full parameter reference in the API documentation. Every request counts toward your plan's monthly quota — rates change once per business day, so caching a published table locally makes a small quota go far.
